Crysis!
Well, I am officially in, and have been for the past week, in crysis mania. I am absolutely stoked about it and the upcoming Far Cry 2, which I am sure will be kickass. The only problem is that the minimum and recommended graphics requirements is as follows:
Minimum:
OS--Windows XP or Windows Vista
Processor--2.8GHz or faster (XP); 3.2GHz or faster* (Vista)
Memory--1GB RAM or 1.5GB RAM (Vista)
Video Card--256MB**
Hard Drive--12GB
Sound Card DirectX 9.0c compatible
Doesn't say specifically what the minimum GPU is, but NVIDIA 6800 or similar to that is essentially what it is. Which is fucking nuts! Sure the reasoning is fair, but still. If I weren't just about to get a new kickass PC, I'd be pissed.
The recommended Requirements is as follows:
OS--Windows XP / Vista
Processor--Intel Core 2 DUO @ 2.2GHz
Memory--2GB RAM
GPU--NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS/640 or similar
That's bloody insane. The graphics card that I am planning on getting is the exact one as the recommended suggestion. What the fuck? Does that imply that future games, perhaps 1-2 years down the line won't run that well, or that crysis is just an exception. Because that's too bloody much.
The price for the 8800 GTS is about 400 bucks right now, even though it was only 355 like a week ago. Doesn't make any bloody sense to me, but I guess that is how things are sometimes.
I am still unsure on whether or not to invest in a dual core or quad core system. Quad core will no doubt be better in the future, but by how much, who knows. Right now though, it's crysis time, and crysis demands duel core. Decisions Decisions.

Comments:
as awesome as that sounds, it will probably cost an arm and a leg to buy it. I think I'll just go with what I had planned, instead.
