sooo....

I was trying to tune my guitar because I felt it was a little out of tune, and perhaps I was just having a bad day, but I made a complete mess of things. It sounded absolutely awful. I tried to fix it, but to no avail. So I got frustrated at the only string that was fine (I happened to be tuning the wrong one and then forgot how to get it back to normal)...so I just kept tightening it (out of frustration, perhaps) and wham, broken string. I could say I was surprised, but I wasn't really. Gay.

For god's sakes man, you really need to buy a tuner! They're like $20! Haha

There's an online guitar tuner. I thought I was doing an okay job tuning it, but I was sooo off when I actually played some notes. The only ones not out of tune were the ones that I didn't touch :(.

Nice thing about guitar tuners is they will tell you how to tune via spiffy lights.

so I don't have to plug in anything, right? like I read that tuners have a built in mic to pick up the frequency, but I am not sure if all of them have it.

Depends on the type you buy. Just ask the guys at the counter for a tuner to use on an acoustic guitar with a mic pickup. KORG is a good make so go with it.

that's exactly what happened to mine! I broke the high e-string out of frustration.

yeah, the high-E string was the only one that was fine, and ironically, that's the one I broke out of frustration :(.
