Had a really shitty day today. My cricket bat broke today on its very first usage against proper bowling. Suffice it to say, it has ruined my whole week. Everything else on the day was great, but I am so bloody upset at the bat. Was a damn fine piece of willow, if I do say so myself. Just a damn shame.

In hockey, it's generally accepted that a hockey stick will eventually break and need to be replaced. Is this not the case in cricket?
You know, I knew atleast 4 or 5 people would make that comment. Mohsin already did, and now you. I don't blame you for that, but somehow I knew someone would relate it to a hockey stick being broken. It actually is really not the case. The bat cost me 250 bucks. But a lot of things go into a cricket bat. It takes about a month of full preparation even after the bat is made, and I spent that month preparing it, making sure it was ready for use. Sadly, one of the cricket balls that was used was a bat-breaker. Meaning that instead of having a cork in the center, it had a metal sphere inside. That's why my bat broke. Really really upsetting.
well, it wasn't intentional. Most cricket balls are well made, but there are some cheap versions that are poorly manufactured. 99% of the time, I refuse to play with those bat-breaker balls. This time, however, I didn't know, so I played with it and walah...:(
Btw dude, I have a cricket bat which I don't use and I'd be willing to give it to you.
I had sanded off some of the finish, but I never finished oiling it. Let me know and I'll look for it.
